Amalthea(Jupiter V) was discovered on 9 September 1892 by Edward Emerson Barnard using the 36 inch (91 cm) refractor telescope at Lick Observatory. It was the last planetary satellite to be discovered by direct visual observation and was the first new satellite of Jupiter since Galileo Galilei's discovery of the Galilean satellites in 1610. Amalthea is the planet's fifth largest moon, with a mean radius of about 83.5 km.

 

Thebe(Jupiter XIV) was discovered by Stephen P. Synnott in images from the Voyager 1 space probe taken on March 5, 1979, while making its flyby of Jupiter. In 1983, it was officially named after the mythological nymph Thebe. Thebe is the planet's seventh largest moon, with a mean radius of about 49 km.

 

아말테아(Jupiter V)는 1892년 9월 9일 버나드(Edward Emerson Barnard)가 릭 천문대에서 36인치(91cm) 굴절 망원경을 사용하여 발견했습니다. 이것은 직접 육안 관측에 의해 발견된 마지막 행성의 위성이었고, 1610년 갈릴레오 갈릴레이가 갈릴레이 위성을 발견한 이후 목성의 첫 번째 새로운 위성이었습니다. 아말테아는 평균 반지름이 약 83.5 km로 목성에서 다섯 번째로 큰 위성입니다.
